Six Reasons to Join BCLNA

1. Advance your professional profile
Consumers and industry peers recognize the BC Landscape & Nursery Association (BCLNA) as a successful, trusted and progressive organization. Joining the BCLNA distinguishes you as a professional.

With over 800 members, BCLNA serves nursery growers, landscape trades, retail nurseries, garden and landscape centres, educators, municipal parks,
horticulture suppliers, students and affiliated organizations.

Membership brings pride and puts you in touch with peers who are motivated to share their knowledge and improve the industry. Many members indicate that networking is the most valuable part of joining.

Three regional chapters enhance the association’s effectiveness in providing local opportunities for members to get together:

  • Lower Mainland
  • Vancouver Island
  • Interior

Commodity groups provide a focus on specific interests:

  • Garden Centres & Retail Nurseries
  • Growers
  • Landscapers

Industry developed certification programs provide members with a stronger level of confidence and accountability. They also help customers identify companies using best management practices:

Other certifications are available through affiliate organizations.

2. Enhance your buying power
Active and associate members enjoy savings on a wide range of products and services.

Many endorsed supplier programs are administered through the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA). BCLNA’s membership in CNLA links our members and industry across Canada, making programs more affordable for everyone. You will receive a benefits package of endorsed supplier programs when you join. 3. Advance your knowledge
BCLNA provides information relevant to your business. We are committed to communication, professional development and resource sharing, including the following items and programs:

4. Promote your business
Your BCLNA membership provides exclusive opportunities to promote your business. Affiliating yourself with BCLNA’s valued reputation also enhances your profile.

  • Public Shows: BCLNA participates in a number of public shows, providing local landscape and retail members the opportunity to promote their business and industry. Some members book as much as 65% of their annual business at these shows!
  • Grower Shows: BCLNA growers have a presence at horticulture shows across Canada through distribution of the BCLNA Buyers Guide at CNLA booths. We attend Oregon’s FarWest show in August, highlighting growers and plants.
  • Promotional Ads: BCLNA advertises BC grown plants through US and Canadian trade magazines, directing them to wholesale nurseries in Buyers Guide and on the website.
  • Websites: All members receive a free listing on bclna.com, our industry website. Landscape and retail members receive a free listing on the public site gardenwiseonline.com, a partnership between GardenWise magazine and BCLNA.
  • Landscape Awards of Excellence: Landscape companies can enter this prestigious competition, with winners using their award as an invaluable marketing tool.
  • Sponsorship: Many product and service supplier members effectively promote their own business by sponsoring the seminars, events and programs that attract their target clients.

5. Manage challenging issues
BCLNA effectively manages important issues that affect the industry and are too complex for individual companies to handle on their own. Issues include pests, municipal, provincial and federal regulations, and a wide range of urban and rural environmental factors. BCLNA partners with CNLA on national issues.

6. Enjoy events for pleasure and profit
Joining BCLNA is your invitation to great events that bring personal satisfaction and business benefits.

  • Chapter and commodity meetings: Members come together regularly across the province to share knowledge, resources and fellowship.
  • Golf tournament: This annual late June tourney is held in the Lower Mainland, providing well-earned relaxation and camaraderie at the end of spring.
  • Auction: This February fundraiser supports horticulture scholarships and industry marketing programs. Auction items are generously donated and bid on by members.
  • Annual General Meeting: Join colleagues for an event that is stimulating and fun, while dealing with key industry issues. Industry champions are also recognized and rewarded.

BCLNA Logo Use Policy
From an association's point of view, there is great value in encouraging members to use its logo appropriately and often. In turn, members should acknowledge that the logo has considerable goodwill and is valuable to the BCLNA. The result of frequent and appropriate use of the logo will generate greater awareness of the BCLNA, which in turn increases the value of being recognized as a member.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure appropriate and professional use of the BCLNA logo. It applies to all applications of the logo, whether it be print media, online, digital, video or other uses.
