Karen
De Jong, Bachelor of Applied Science
Marketing & Communications Manager / CanWest Show Manager
Karen started at the BCLNA in November of 1999. After starting from
a junior position, her role at the BCLNA has evolved to now managing
all the publications, special events, export development and many
other special projects. However, her biggest role is managing the
CanWest Hort Show. When things get hectic in the office, Karen sneaks
away to Starbucks to enjoy a latte. On the weekends, you'll find
her with her daughter, perfecting her garden, antiquing, planning
her next cruise with husband Nick or celebrating a birthday with
one of her 23 nieces and nephews.

Nelson
Special Events & CanWest Exhibitor Relations
Barb started working at the BCLNA in November 1998 doing advertising
sales for the various publications. In 2002, she also took on the
role as the Exhibitor Relations person for the CanWest Hort Show.
Barb worked in the nursery industry for many years in both office
administration and sales before joining the BCLNA. On evenings and
weekends, Barb enjoys singing, acting, gardening and spending time
with her family and friends.

Hedy
Dyck, Biological Sciences Diploma
Industry Development
With extensive training and experience in wholesale and retail marketing/communications,
technical sales and plant production, Hedy constantly utilizes all
of her expertise at the BCLNA. Whether working on managing nursery
grower issues, P. ramorum or Environmental Farm Planning, Hedy's
duties and priorities change daily according to the whims of the
pests, regulators, environment or growers who need her help. Outside
of the office, Hedy likes to keep laughing with her family and pets.
She enjoys attending live theatre, requires occasional bouts of
shopping therapy and fabulous cuisine, and likes to travel to far
off places.

Marvyn
Brown, A.A.T., H.N.C. Business Studies (UK)
Finance
Manager
Marvyn Brown joined BCLNA as the new Finance Manager in
early 2009. Marvyn has excellent credentials in financial and
project management, as well as a solid understanding of programs,
marketing and most importantly, keeping an organization focused on
the needs of its key stakeholders. Marvyn was born in the UK and
immigrated to Canada in 1987. He brings to the table a wide range
of accounting and finance experience in industries as diverse as
defence, manufacturing, retail and wholesale. When not at work Marvyn
enjoys skiing and watching the Canucks play hockey (though usually
not both at the same time). He has two grown children and five grandchildren.

Krista
Manton, Diploma in Horticulture Technology
Landscape, Retail and Chapters Coordinator
Krista Manton is a graduate from the Horticulture Diploma
program at Kwantlen University College. Her role at the BCLNA is
dealing with issues and coordinating meetings and programs for
the landscape and retail commodity groups and chapters. When she's
not hard at work trying to resolve the needs of landscape and retail
members, she enjoys gardening (naturally), photography, skiing
and boating.

Tang, Bachelor of Science
P. ramorum Certification and DPCP Coordinator / Industry Development
Assistant
Trina's responsibilities include coordination for the P. ramorum
Certification Program in BC, as well as the Domestic Phytosanitary
Certification Program (DPCP) in Canada. She provides administration
for the Canadian Nursery Certification Institute (CNCI) and industry
development support to nursery growers. Trina is a graduate in
Biology, loves shopping, snowboarding, and spending time with her
husband and son.

Cheryl
Lee
Sales Manager
Cheryl joined the BCLNA in March 2010. As Sales Mananger, she is responsible
for growth of new memberships, advertising in the BCLNA publications, CanWest
Hort Show booth sales, and the various sponsorships of BCLNA programs. For the
past 16 years, Cheryl’s background has been publication sales, including
5 years (1999-2004) spent selling ads for both of BC’s consumer magazines,
Gardens West and GardenWise. In her spare time, Cheryl volunteers for a two animal
rescue societies, loves her pets, spending time with friends, cooking/baking,
staying active and constantly learning new things.

Henderson,

Administrative Assistant
Heidi recently joined the BCLNA team, coming on board in March
2006. Her primary responsibilities include office adminstration,
membership support, database maintenance, and special events, along
with assisting other BCLNA staff when needed. When not at the office,
Heidi enjoys working out, reading and cooking.

Reception / Administration
Ina joined the BCLNA team in early October 2007. Her background includes
retail sales and customer service. She is excited to be the voice of
BCLNA as she welcomes your calls and assists with various administrative tasks.
When she's not at work, Ina enjoys cooking for her family, reading a good novel,
shopping for anything/everything, and spending time with her husband and her
daughter.

Marie Walsh
Industry Skills Training (Pilot) Program Coordinator
BCLNA’s Industry Skill Training Pilot Program is an initiative funded in
total by the Governments of British Columbia and Canada. The 18 month pilot program
will delivery basic skills training to entry level workers for growers, landscapers
and retail nurseries in three key geographic regions of BC.
As a life-long
learner Ann Marie looks for opportunity and challenge. A background
in Adult Education and Educational Leadership, Ann Marie delivers
unique programs with excitement, passion, energy and vision.
Known for her ability to recognize diversity in the workplace,
she offers optimum learning opportunities through training, workshops
and professional development. Outside of the office Ann Marie
is involved in various outdoor activities; hiking, kayaking,
yoga, cycling and of course gardening. She also enjoys quiet
time and can be found reading or engaged in artistic pursuits.
An active member of the community, Ann Marie can often be found ‘out
and about’ with family engaged
in any number of community events, festivals or gatherings.

Industry Skills Training (Pilot) Program Assistant
Joy's responsibilities
are to assist and support the Industry Skills Training Program
as well as support educational projects and administration within
the BCLNA office. Outside of the office, Joy loves herfamily
time, taking pictures, gardening and shopping for that next great
deal!

MacDonald Bachelor of Arts, Political Science
Reception, Administration
Terri is the
new receptionist at BCLNA, who is watching over things while
Ina is on maternity leave. A little about Terrri: she's from
Miramichi, New Brunswick, and has been living here on the west
coast for just a little over a year. Terri graduated from UNB
in 2008 with a degree in Political Science. A true nature lover,
she someday hopes to find herself working in forestry– in
the area of conservation or perhaps silviculture. Terri tells
us she's a pretty easy-going kind of person, and is looking forward
to working with each of the fine folks here at
BCLNA durin the next year.
