Werner
Knittel, Bachelor
of Business Adminstration, Bachelor of Arts
Executive Director
Werner Knittel joined the BCLNA on May 12, 2008, taking the place
of Jane Stock, who left the association to manage her health issues,
and will return to manage selected projects.
Werner
comes to the BCLNA from the BC Division of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters,
where he served as Vice President for eight years. There
he was responsible for strategic and operational leadership, service

to the BCLNA and its increasingly important role in the horticulture
industry.

Karen
De Jong, Bachelor of Applied Science
Marketing & Communications Manager / CanWest Show Manager
Karen started at the BCLNA in November of 1999. After starting from
a junior position, her role at the BCLNA has evolved to now managing
all the publications, special events, export development and many
other special projects. However, her biggest role is managing the
CanWest Hort Show. When things get hectic in the office, Karen sneaks
away to Starbucks to enjoy a latte. On the weekends, you'll find
her with her daughter, perfecting her garden, antiquing, planning
her next cruise with husband Nick or celebrating a birthday with
one of her 23 nieces and nephews.

Barb worked in the nursery industry for many years in both office
administration and sales before joining the BCLNA. On evenings and
weekends, Barb enjoys singing, acting, gardening and spending time
with her family and friends.

Hedy
Dyck, Biological Sciences Diploma

With extensive training and experience in wholesale and retail marketing/communications,
technical sales and plant production, Hedy constantly utilizes all
of her expertise at the BCLNA. Whether working on managing nursery
grower issues, P. ramorum or Environmental Farm Planning, Hedy's
duties and priorities change daily according to the whims of the
pests, regulators, environment or growers who need her help. Outside
of the office, Hedy likes to keep laughing with her family and pets.
She enjoys attending live theatre, requires occasional bouts of
shopping therapy and fabulous cuisine, and likes to travel to far
off places.
